Space Coast life in Florida:
How is the job Industry: There are many high end professional occupations available. In general there are a lot of business opportunities such as: the service industry, technology, aerospace, tourism and much more. This is a great place to make a new start!
How is the landscaping & climate? The climate is semi-tropical and it is easy to grow beautiful gardens. Being near the ocean, it can be a bit tricky dealing with the sand, but there are plenty of natural plants that are native and thrive in this type of soil. Otherwise, your going to need a lot of potting soil if you want more variation. Take a look at this weather link for more information.
What is there to do? This location is also only an hour from an Orlando International airport (along with several smaller airports), Disney, Nasa and other International destinations. We are also home to a plethora of world renowned enterainment and talent. For nature enthusists there are countless things to do. From observing preserved natural habitats, sanctuarys, trails to good deal of bird watching (to name a few). The Space Coast is also close to many Florida fresh water springs for outdoor recreation. Just ask, and I will send you whatever kind of info you need.
Prices of homes, living, services and goods are considerably less here than other places in Florida near the water.
What are some common problem areas? Some things to be aware of when looking at homes would be mold or mildew, termites, rust, hurricane damage (roofs) and of course, bugs. Be sure to check the AC unit or any other nooks & crannies for weather damages.
A few other questions and things to consider are:
~ Roofs- roofs over the age of ten years may need replacement due to insurance.
~ Past utility bills
~ 'as is' sales. The septic tank or city sewage may be problematic, so be sure to schedule service and check on these areas.
~ Sink holes and flood areas. Soil here is not like soil anywhere else as it largly composed of sand, this may be important depending on your gardening/landscaping needs. Check for flooding information.
~ How old is the roof? You may have building skills and tend to DIY. This can be a great money/time saver, however, if the roof is ten years or older, be prepared for a roof replacement in order to qualify for insurance & mortgage.
~ Getting a 4 point home inspection as soon as possible is highly recommended depending on your financing needs and capabilities.
~ Hurricane proofing. Check seals/doors, windows and location for damages.
~ Be ready to check on everything from the electric panel, AC year, running water/cloggage, etc.
Happy Home Hunting & looking forward to hearing from you!
